New Covid-19 Update

3/22/2020

WE ARE STILL OPEN!
With the Governor’s announcement for the Stay-at-Home order on Friday, we are still open & able to maintain normal business hours at this time.
We are here for scheduled appointments, medication refills and diet needs.
The following changes are effective immediately through April 7th and will be extended if mandated by the state. The goal is to minimize the number of people entering the clinic.
  1. Food & Medication Pick Up:
    1. Please call ahead for any food or medication requests. It is preferred, but not required, to pay over the phone at time of order.
    2. Please do NOT come inside to pick up!
    3. Call us when you arrive at the clinic and we will bring the medication out to you.
  2. For scheduled medical & surgical appointments:
    1. Only 1 person allowed to come in to the clinic with a pet. Anyone extra will be asked to wait in your car. After check-in, if there are multiple people in the lobby and an exam room is not available, you may be asked to wait with your pet in your car until the doctor is ready to see you.
    2. You also have the option to not enter the clinic at all. If preferred, you can call when you arrive, an assistant will come out and bring your pet inside and bring them back out to you when the appointment is finished.
We are here for you and your four-legged family members. We have been and will continue to follow our stringent cleaning and antiviral procedures after each visit. We have communicated with our team members to ensure they stay home if any symptoms of Covid-19 are experienced by them or anyone they have come in contact with. We will be following all necessary protocols as set by the government and CDC.

Good evening!
We at Shelby Veterinary Service wanted to reach out to you regarding the steps we are taking in regard to the Covid-19 virus situation.
We are here for you and your four- legged family members.
We would like to offer some options we hope will help you feel safe while still caring for your pet's health needs.

1. You may drop your pet off for an appointment. We can come out to your car & then call you when your pet is ready for pickup. We will bring them back to your car when you arrive for pick up.

2.Any prescriptions your pet needs, we can bring out to your car.

The American Veterinary Medical Association has released a FAQ regarding Covid-19 in pets. It is attached below.

If you have any concerns, feel free to call or email.
Lets be safe together!

A new name for a new year...

I started with Dr. Brix at Brix Veterinary Service in July 2009 shortly after graduation from the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine. I have absolutely loved spending the last 10 years getting to know you, your families & pets, and livestock needs. As you may or may not know, I partnered with Dr. Brix in November 2016 and then purchased the remainder of the practice from him in November 2018. We have added digital radiography, an automated reminder system, and appointment scheduling. I look forward to continuing to provide the same exceptional service and adding my own personal touches to the business, but with a new name. Starting January 1, 2020, we will be known as Shelby Veterinary Service, PC. Dr Brix will continue to be at the practice 3 days a week as he has been this past year. Together, our team will continue to live up to our motto; “Trustworthy veterinary care for your best friend & livelihood.”
